We moved into a new house last month, and it's been mostly great, except for the neighbor across the street.
  • 03
She came over the day we moved in to "welcome" us, and then casually mentioned, "Oh by the way, we usually have guests park in your driveway since it's closer to our door. Hope that's okay!"
  • 04
I said no, that wouldn't work for us. Well... a week later, I came home to find some random SUV parked square in my driveway.
  • 05
I knocked on her door and asked her to have the guest move. She sighed, "Oh come on, it's just for tonight. Don't be that kind of neighbor."
  • 06
I told her I am that kind of neighbor if "that kind" means expecting to use my own driveway. She looked at me like I'd kicked her dog, but at least they moved the car.
  • 07
I've since put up a "No parking" sign and she hasn't spoken to me since. Fine by me!

Beloved OmegaMan 2h ago I can guarantee the previous owner of your house didn't let them do it either, and she saw her chance to take something she wasn't allowed to do before.

ThealaSildorian ⚫2h ago After I bought a house about 10 years ago, I came home to find someone's pickup in my driveway. The owner, who lived several houses down, came to get it as I
  • 13
was looking at it, and said he'd gotten into the habit of parking there while the house was empty (the previous owner had d six months before that).
  • 14
I told him, "You should get out of that habit immediately. I have strange cars in my driveway towed, and I don't bother looking for the owners." I had been in the process of googling a tow company when he came by to get his truck

He gave me a funny look, and we didn't speak again after that. But he parked elsewhere after that.

Several-Honey-88... They may have had an 2h ago arrangement with the old owners. That ended the day of the sale and transfer. Get the number of a good tow company.

Viviana_Fabia • 2h ago You're definitely not in the wrong here. She asked, you said no, and she tested the boundary anyway. That's not a misunderstanding, that's deliberate. Putting up a sign

was smart, and her reaction only confirms she didn't respect your space. You handled it calmly, and that's something to be proud of.
